when i played around with this phone at the verizon store, some of the buttons didn't respond as well as I  had hoped. This usually happened with the buttons on the edge of the touchpad.  I thought nothing of it, thinking it was just that one phone that I used.  Now that I watched 3 online reviews, i see that in almost every review, sometimes the buttons don't even register being touched.  Angry

I'm getting mine on Monday, and will post how responsive the touch screen is.

When you played with it in the store, did you get to calibrate the touch screen and/or select the level of touch sensitivity?  Those factors could play into whether or not the touch screen was as responsive as you would have liked.  I've heard that the screen is not very responsive, and I've heard that it is far more responsive and intuitive than the Voyager, so who knows!

Yeah. I noticed that I have to push the buttons at the bottom of the such as the 'back' button harder than I have to push the rest of the touch screen buttons.

yeah some buttons on the bottom of the screen are hard to push at times but adjusting the sensitivity and just getting used to the phone's personality helps.

Ive found that if you swipe the side buttons toward the corner they are at it works better. I have my sensitivity turned up to the second highest level.  So a little pressure and a swipe, works well.

I have also experienced a few minor glitches with the touchscreen..

However.. you get used to it.. and so far.. I am not annoyed by it.

I have my sensitivity set to the highest setting.. which seemed to make it better.

I found this over at HowardForums. I tried it and it seems to work.

Glyde Touchscreen Fix

Fix: Secure the battery.
1.)Turn off phone and remove back case.
2.)With the battery in, electric tape the bottom quarter of the battery to the plastic of the phone (secure battery).
3.)Place a piece of electric tape on the inner shell of the back case across to where the battery should be (provides padding when closed).
4.)Install back case and turn on phone.

Observations before the fix:
-Running on battery, touchscreen is responsive 90% of the time (+/-). Vibration feedback (on low) when phone is first turned on is strong, but gets weaker with time (why is source getting weaker?). Whenever touchscreen is unresponsive, the vibration feedback is also lower than normal.
-Running on electric plug, touchscreen is always responsive. Vibration feedback (on low) is always strong. This is probably indication of power management issue running on battery.
-Battery is secured on the top. The bottom of the battery is not secure (I have dropped the phone and the battery would fling right out). It is kept from falling out mainly due to the back case.

Observations after the fix (settings: vibration low, sensitivity medium-high):
-Running on battery, touchscreen is always responsive. Vibration feedback (on low) stays consistent; does not get weaker with time.

Give it a try and let me know if it works for you. Before the fix, I have tried all settings, with vibration feedback on/off, sensitivity low-high, etc. but none of them offered a consistent fix.

This fix seems to work quite well for me...no more pushing the stupd back button 5 times lol. The only thing I still have trouble with is that bottom row of buttons in the my music(try to press help or something and it touches shuffle instead) so im thinking we'll just have to wait for a firmware update to fix that. Also on the home screen i can grab the stars on the first try almost every time now...

I think I've figured this mystery out. When I first got my glyde, I was pleasantly surprised at the responsiveness of the touch screen, given my prior knowledge. After a week or two though, I was having a lot of trouble at the edges. It left me lamenting the strange absence of a calibration utility.

Why does this happen? Here's what I think: the capacitive touch-screen is getting confused by the capacitively 'active' electrolytic residue left on the screen from use, and/or electrolytes from the impure tap water one might use in cleaning the screen. In the presence of moisture, these respond to an electric field or current, and hence confuse the detection system.

Here's what I did: I used pre-moistened screen cleaning cloths (Screen Kleen) - they are lightly moistened with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol - and thoroughly cleaned my screen to a shine comparable to when I first got the phone, a shine that paper+water had not achieved - and found that my touch screen was suddenly working great again, all over.

I'm really happy that this is not only a solvable problem, but an easily solvable one. And of course, this easily explains why a device at the store does not respond well - Verizon should really tell their salesmen to keep those things very clean.

Try this fix.  Many has claimed that they see improvements with the touchscreen.

Very Interesting, thanks. I might try it at some point and see if it improves responsiveness further, since there is still a bit to be desired, though my battery seems nice and firm and I haven't noticed any falloff of vibration or sensitivity over the time the phone is on, or a difference with it plugged in. I can't help but wonder whether that method works by slightly bending the internals of the phone though, which makes me a bit uneasy.
Two things I have noticed about responsiveness - My Glyde seems a bit more responsive (at least, responds more promptly) in standalone mode, I suppose since the processor doesn't have to continually perform phone duties concurrently. Also, on high sensitivity I've noticed that while drag-scrolling, the screen is sensitive enough that I can continue to control the scrolling with my finger lifted slightly off the screen (no longer in contact with it).

I have my sensitivity set to low and it has been working great. I read about it on another forum. Seems to be working.
