WARNING: Using QPST could cause your phone to stop working! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
1) Follow my guide here up to step 6: http://www.samsung-glyde.com/how-to/how-to-use-qpst-to-browse-your-glyde%27s-filesystem/

2) Choose "Service Programming" from the "Start Clients" menu

3) Choose your phone, and click ok

4) Click on the "Read from Phone" button on the bottom left. The "service program code" will be all zeroes, so just leave it as it is and hit ok.

5) Click "Save to File" on the bottom right to backup your phone's software. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!!

6) Scroll to the "M.I.P" tab (click the right arrow until you see it)

7) Select the first entry from the list (should have your phone number) and hit "Edit".
8) Change the entry in the "Tethered NAI" bix to the following form: 5551234567@vzw3g.com  It should be the same as the entry in the "NAI" box above.

9) Click OK
10) Click Write to Phone

11) Your phone will reset

Enjoy! Connect via Dial-up-Networking with the following info:
Phone Number: #777
Username: 5551234567@vzw3g.com
Password: verizon
Make sure to choose your phone as the modem.

Have fun! The speed is rather fast for a phone modem. It loads webpages nice and fast. Very nice for using when you can't find a WiFi connection.

Note: If you DON'T have a data plan, this will cost you $2/MB! Also, the Vcast Vpak does NOT give you unlimited data for this service.

Note 2: This is AGAINST the Verizon TOS, and could get your service TERMINATED. Use at your own risk!

Well why would you use your phone to download 500MB of data anyway?

I noticed it said 7MB for me, so I'm waiting for my bill to see if I was charged $14.

It's technically free because you don't need to pay the $60/month for the plan.

So basically, if you're using LESS than 20MB/month on this, it's cheaper than buying a plan.

Just a few notes:

I'm not sure if the Vcast Vpak unlimited data works with this. When I first tried it, it said I used 7MB of data, but that disappeared, and it did NOT show up on my bill.

We have since upgraded our plan from Nationwide Select to Nationwide Premium, which includes free data.
I used the service two days ago, and no data has been added to my usage yet.

And lastly, if you update your phone using *228, you have to redo this, as that resets the configuration.

I just got a BlackBerry Curve, so if anyone cares, this method also works with those.
